👩💼 The leaders who thrive in the AI era are not the most technical. They are the most intentional.
AI Literacy is not about knowing the tools. It is about knowing yourself well enough to use them wisely.

I want to ask you something honestly.
When someone mentions a new AI tool in a meeting, what happens inside you?
For some women in leadership it is excitement. For many (and I say this with complete understanding) it is a quiet flicker of anxiety. A whisper of I should understand this better than I do. A performance of confidence that costs more energy than anyone around you realises.
I have been there.
And what I learned from building AI into my own leadership, from inside a demanding senior role, is this:
The gap is never knowledge. It is almost always permission.
Permission to not know everything yet. Permission to ask the question. Permission to be a genuine learner again, even at this level of your career.
Because here is the truth about AI Literacy that nobody in the corporate world is saying clearly enough:
You do not need to understand how AI works.
You need to understand how to work with AI.
Those are completely different skills. And the second one? You already have everything you need to develop it.
When was the last time you gave yourself permission to be a genuine beginner at something important?
Skill #1: AI Literacy
AI Literacy is the foundation of every other skill in this series. It is your ability to understand what AI can and cannot do, well enough to make smart decisions about it, lead your team through it, and use it in ways that amplify your humanity rather than erode it.
This is not about becoming technical.
It is about becoming intentional.
The Future-Fit Leader with strong AI Literacy does three things consistently.
She stays curious rather than defensive. When new AI tools arrive in her world, she approaches them with genuine interest rather than quiet dread. She asks questions before forming opinions. She experiments before she judges.
She understands the landscape well enough to lead. She does not need to know how a large language model is trained. She needs to know what it is good at, where it makes mistakes, and how to verify what it produces. That level of understanding is available to anyone willing to spend 30 minutes a week learning.
She leads her team's AI adoption with a human-centred lens. She ensures that AI is used ethically, responsibly, and in ways that protect her team's wellbeing and dignity, not just their productivity.
AI Literacy at this level is not a technical skill.
It is a leadership skill. And it starts with your willingness to engage.
🤖 AI Leadership Insight
The most dangerous position a senior woman leader can take on AI right now is not confusion.
It is disengagement.
Because the leaders who wait until they feel fully ready will wait until the moment has passed. The leaders who engage now, imperfectly and curiously and consistently, are the ones building the judgment and confidence that cannot be replicated later by a weekend course.
AI literacy compounds. Every prompt you write, every result you evaluate, every conversation you lead about AI in your team makes the next one easier and more natural.
You are not behind. You are at the beginning of something that every leader in the world is also navigating right now.
The difference is that you are choosing to navigate it consciously.
That is already AI Literacy in action.

🧘 Wellness Tip: The Curiosity Reset
This week, notice every moment you feel resistance or anxiety around AI.
Do not push through it. Do not perform comfort you do not feel.
Instead, pause and name it. I feel uncertain here. Then replace the anxiety with a single question: What would I need to know to feel more grounded in this?
Curiosity is not a personality trait. It is a practice. And it is one of the most powerful wellness tools available to a woman in leadership, because it transforms threat into growth and anxiety into agency.
💡 AI Prompt of the Week: The AI Literacy Builder
For Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude:
Copy/Paste this:
"Act as my AI learning coach. I want to build genuine AI literacy as a woman in senior management. Not to become a tech expert, but to understand AI well enough to lead confidently and make smart decisions about it. Ask me three questions, one at a time, to understand my current level of familiarity and where my biggest gaps are. Then create a simple, personalised 30 day learning plan that builds my confidence and practical understanding without overwhelming me."
