🤖 Using AI to become a better human leader.

The most unexpected thing AI taught me about myself.

Laura Ivonne Hernandez Confident Corporate Presentation Scene

I want to tell you something that surprised me.

I started using AI as a productivity tool.

And somewhere along the way, it became something I didn’t expect:

A mirror.

Not because AI is wise. But because when you have to articulate your situation clearly enough for AI to help you — when you put the leadership challenge, the team dynamic, the difficult decision into words — something happens.

You start to see it differently.

The act of explaining it reveals what you actually think. What you actually feel. What you’ve been avoiding looking at directly.

I have had more clarity about difficult leadership situations through 20 minutes of journaling with an AI prompt than through hours of ruminating alone.

Not because AI coached me.

Because it asked me the right questions — and I finally had to answer them.

When did you last truly reflect on your leadership — not just your to-do list?

💜 AI for Emotional Intelligence & Leadership Coaching

This is the most underused application of AI for senior women leaders.

And the most powerful.

The Future-Fit Leader uses AI as a:

Reflection partner: Journaling prompts that help her process difficult team dynamics, leadership challenges, or emotional patterns — so she leads from insight, not reaction.

Practice space: Role-playing hard conversations before she has them — so she’s rehearsed, grounded, and ready.

Coaching tool: Generating powerful questions for her 1:1s — so her team development conversations go deeper than status updates.

Pattern spotter: Over time, when she journals consistently with AI, patterns emerge. The recurring triggers. The leadership moments she keeps avoiding. The growth edges she’s been circling.

This is AI in service of your humanity — not a replacement for it.

💡 Three EQ AI Prompts to Use This Week

For self-reflection:

“Help me reflect on a difficult leadership situation I experienced this week. Ask me questions — one at a time — that help me understand: what emotion was driving me, whether it served the situation, and what I would do differently. Be curious, not judgmental.”

For conversation practice:

“I need to have a difficult conversation with [role] about [topic]. Role-play as them — respond as they likely would. Help me practice staying grounded, empathetic, and clear under pressure.”

For team coaching:

“Generate 3 powerful coaching questions for my 1:1 with [team member] who is struggling with [specific challenge]. The questions should help them find their own answers — not give them mine.”

🧘 Wellness Tip: The Daily Leadership Journal

5 minutes. Every evening this week. Three prompts:

  1. “What emotion most influenced my leadership today?”

  2. “Who did I truly see — and who did I miss?”

  3. “What would I do differently tomorrow?”

No AI needed for this one. Just you, a notebook, and the willingness to be honest.

That’s where your emotional intelligence grows.

💡 AI Prompt of the Week: The Inner Coach

For Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude:

Copy/Paste this:

“Act as my leadership development coach. I want to grow my emotional intelligence and self-awareness as a leader. Ask me about a recent leadership moment — a decision, a conversation, or a situation — that I found challenging. Ask me one question at a time. Help me identify the emotion underneath my response, whether it served me and my team, and one specific thing I can practice differently. Be compassionate and direct.”
